Bulk Email

We may occasionally send bulk e-mails about FuchsFriends UK, or matters relating to Fuchs to our members. We will not send bulk e-mails or allow others to send bulk e-mails, which we believe would be considered spam.

Fuchsfriends UK supports the principles set out in the GDPR as this formalizes the rights of people who give personal details to organisations such as ours.

Our Privacy Policy

We will only retain the minimum data about you in order that Fuchsfriends UK can function on a day to day basis. The data we retain will be used for us to commnicate with you and to put you in contact with other members if you instruct us to do so. We also use your information for administrative purposes, to let you know about changes we make to the services we provide and to this website.

We will never pass on any of your data to third parties without first obtaining your instructions to do so. We will never accept any payment from third parties for passing your data to them if you instruct us to do so. We will limit the data we collect about you to :
  • Your name
  • Address (if provided by you)
  • Your age
  • Telephone number (if provided by you)
  • Whether you have Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy or are joining on behalf of a friend or relative
  • Your reason for joining Fuchsfriends UK
  • The year that you were diagnosed with Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy
  • How you heard about Fuchsfriends UK
  • Your email address
* The above data can be edited by members themselves in their Profile.

We also monitor IP addresses. This is to protect the site against misuse and to automatically block certain spam and Hacking attacks.

We reserve the right to share your personal information if we are legally obliged to and to enable us to apply our terms and conditions.

The GDPR  gives you the right to request us to disclose what specific data we hold about you. You may wish to ask us to disclose the information we hold in order to confirm that this is correct. The regulations also give you the right to request us to delete all or part of the data we hold about you. Your members profile provides access to all this information where it can be checked, and corrected as necessary, including the option to delete your profile. Should you need any further assistance in all or part of the information we hold, or should you merely wish to check the information, please contact us by email at admin@fuchs-dystrophy.org.uk. We will respond within 21 days of receiving your request. 

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet is 100 per cent secure. As a result, while we try to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk.

Private Topics and Posts

The staff reserve the right to read any Private Topics and posts placed on this website. Any form of conversation made through this website should be considered viewable by staff. All private-posts and posts, whether 'deleted' or not, are stored on the server and may be reviewed if we feel we have cause for an investigation. If you do want to keep something private, do not use our services for transmitting it. Situations involving investigations can be anything at our discretion, for example, to investigate specific incidents of our services being used for racism or harassment.
